Anti islam Fitna film, a misleading critique of Islam and Koran

fitna.jpgI just watched the controversial film Fitna produced by a dutch politician in youtube. A shocking film as it cited Koran verses and displayed terror attacks such as the Sept. 11, 2001 and London bombing committed by those who claimed to represent Islam.

As a Muslim, I condemned those attacks, but this film also did not make things better. The film confuses people as it focused on how some fellow Muslims negatively interpret some Koran verses such as Jihad. It’s unfair to do so.

However, this also reflects that our religion still has a lot of homeworks to do to convey the message that Islam is peace.

The film/video needs maturity to watch so please be careful with your children.

Here is the youtube link.

SIF Alumni: 40 recipients of our scholarship program

    January 9, 2008 · No Comments

Hscholarship.jpgere are the children who receive our (Indonesian alumni of Singapore Interntaional Fellowship) scholarship program. 40 students in Elementary School SD Purwosari 2 Pati, Central Java - some already studied in junior high schools - were chosen to receive our financial aid to continue their study. Basically they stem from poor families, show a strong intention to study and get good results in their school.Just got the latest reports that Yuli Astuti (bottom second right), who is now studying at the first year of Junior High School SMP 2 Pati, one of the favorite schools in Central Java’s small town of Pati, has scored an average of 80 in all of her subjects. For a student from a poor family like her, and also as a former student from a little known elementary school SD Purwosari 2, studying in a favorite junior high school like SMP 2 Pati is a dream coming true. Let alone Yuli could score high in schools to compete with other students, hm that is really something. All the best for you, Yul, and go reach your dream.

Another potential students are Aprilia, who is in the second year in SMP2 Pati, and her compatriot Dian Lutfiani, also in SMP 2. Aprilia scored an average of 77.64 in her second year, while Dian got an average of 75.64. Improve your scores, April and Dian, don’t give up.

Those are examples of the recipients of our scholarship program. There are also Rosyad Abror who is studying in pondok pesantren Yi Sahal (A prestigious Islamic Boarding School in Pati), Heru Widianto ( in a subdistrict Islamic School), Yeni Fitriani (SMP 5), Nurhalimah, Istiana (SMP Tlogowungu) and the rest were still in elementary school.

Hopefully we can give more to students from poor families.

Should we call it the price of democracy? It’s just too much. I think this is the price of cheated democracy.

News maker of the Year: Malaysia

    December 30, 2007 · 2 Comments

For various reasons, I chose Malaysia as the top news maker in my country. The tortures against Indonesian workers working in M’sia, also against our karate coach, the stealing of our Rasa Sayange song and Reog ponorogo dance are among the reasons to name Malaysia the top news maker.I think even our President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono might not be as popular as Malaysia this year.
