Entries from November 2007
I enjoy reading this article. Not only it mentions our former President BJ Habibie, but the critique over PM Abdullah Badawi seems right. Unlike under Mahathir, Malaysia is now losing direction. Don’t know where to go, have more problems at home, and more unfriendly with neighboring countries like us Indonesia. How far can you go Pak Lah?
Malaysiakini editor Steven Gan has come down hard on Abdullah Badawi, who he called the ‘accidental prime minister’, and the worst PM we ever had.
In an editorial titled: An incompetent, not-so-nice guy, Steven said Abdullah is no Junichiro Koizumi, but at least, he can be BJ Habibie to bring some Indonesian-standard reforms in Malaysia — that is, if his Son-in-Law allows him to.
Koizumi, if you remember, was the maverick Japanese leader who led his party to one of the biggest electoral victories in the nation’s history and decisively sacked party leaders who opposed his reforms. Abdullah can’t measure up to him, Steven said.
Whereas, Habibie was the accidental president in post-Suharto Indonesia. In the one short year he was in power, he initiated poll reforms, liberated the media, free political prisoners and let East Timor go.
Already, Abdullah has completed his boring four years as Malaysia’s prime minister when November 1 came and went.

I often checked his blog as it contained quite useful information. What I like from his blog is Blogger Indonesia of the Week as it encourages the emergence of good bloggers in Indonesia. Another thing is it promotes English as the language for blogging because this will ensure people in the world who mostly speak English also grasp the view from Indonesians. The blogger of the week itself often provides me with fresh ideas on blogging that I sometimes I never thought. Good Luck and Keep Going.
For all Blogger Indonesia who’re just visiting this blog, I need to reiterate again some important points regarding blog that meet the criteria to be reviewed.
First, the blog should be written in English or at least bilingual.
Second, the blog should have a good content with Indonesian nuance (sci-tech, political, cultural, social, faith, art)
Third, original i.e. written by yourself; not the kind of news blog taken from third party.
Fourth, any kind of field reporting on certain socio-cultural events blended with a good commentary will be prioritized.
Fifth, blog which talk about socio-political and cultural commentary should have a sort of balance & unbiased opinion.
Sixth, no pornographic content.
Seventh, blog with anonymous blogger and unclear profile/identy will be the last resort to be reviewed. In another word, if your blog want to be reviewed, your identity should be as clear as crystal.

I could not find these two Indonesia-related stories in mainstream media in Malaysia like the Star and the New Straits Times, at least at their homepage, but Malaysia Kini highlighted the two. Although it is just one introductory sentence as we have to pay to read more, it is good to know that someone there considers the issues important enough to be published.

Just had a dinner with a friend in Cup & Cino Coffee House. I had no plan to go there actually but it looked to be a nice restaurant. Well nothing wrong to try. I ordered sup buntut and just a diet coke. A friend of mine chose others, sorry I forgot. Sup buntut is not so bad, not so good, as I remembered to have a better one in Ancol bowling center. My friend recommended me try a small sup buntut restaurant in Tebet. Sup buntut in Cup & Cino is sold at Rp 45,000. (US$5).
So overall, this place might be good for meeting and drinking but not for eating.
| Tempat nyaman/Romantis terutama buat anak-anak muda. Bisa juga untuk meeting-meeting rasa cocok buat orang Indonesia juga orang Barat. |

Got this from
http://sloone.wordpress.com/. This blog mocks a survey on our neighbor Malaysian PM Abdullah Badawi or Pak Lah, which stated Malaysians are happy with him.
1,024 people out of 27 million Malaysians said they are happy with prime minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s government. (Malaysiakini)
| The survey, conducted by the Merdeka Center for the New Straits Times, found “a stable and positive voter support for Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and the Barisan Nasional government”. |

Hahahahahahaha! Is it April Fool’s yet? Maybe there is such a thing as November Fool!

Persija Jakarta lost 0-1 on Sunday against PSM Makassar in the second leg of Copa Dji Sam Soe, but it went through to the quarterfinals by winning 2-1 on aggregate.
Congratulation to Persija.
| Rusuh, tapi Persija dan The Jakmania Aman |

Motorola Q9H smart phone is slim, stylish, equipped with qwerty keyboard, mp3/4 players with a great sound quality and 2.0 Megapixel camera. This really makes it different than others such as Nokia E61i where its focus is on the qwerty keyboard and camera. Detiknews.com reported this gadget will be sold between Rp 3.9 million and Rp 4 million. It’s something that is worth waiting I believe. I think Q9H is cool.
